  • North Carolina Army National Guard Spc. Jocelyn L. Carrasquillo, 28, of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard, Wilmington, N.C.; killed March 13 when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle on the main supply route in Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Joel K. Brattain, 21, of Santa Anna, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died March 13 when an improvised explosive device struck his military vehicle in Baghdad. Brownfield, 24, of Summit, Ohio; assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374, Marine Wing Support Group 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died March 18 from wounds received during an enemy mortar attack at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Michael J. Esposito Jr., 22, of Brentwood, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed March 18 when his team came under small-arms fire while clearing a village in Dehrawood, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spec. Doron Chan, 20, of Highland, N.Y.; assigned to the 411th Engineer Brigade, Army Reserve, New Windsor, N.Y.; killed March 18 when his convoy vehicle was cut off by a civilian vehicle near Balad, Iraq. Chan’s vehicle swerved, crossed into oncoming traffic and flipped over.

  • Marine Corps Cpl. David M. Vicente, 25, of Methuen, Mass.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed in action March 19 near Hit, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Jason C. Ludlam, 22, of Arlington, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, based in Vilseck, Germany; died March 19 when he was electrocuted while laying telephone wires in Baqoubah, Iraq.
