  • Army Sgt. Dominic R. Coles, 25, of Jesup, Ga.; assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; killed Dec. 26 when his Humvee came under attack during combat operations by enemy forces using small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Dane O. Carver, 20, of Freeport, Mich.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment, Michigan Army National Guard, Saginaw, Mich.; killed Dec. 26 when his Humvee came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer Richard M. Salter, 44, of Cypress, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 26 when his Apache helicopter collided with another military aircraft in mid-air and then crashed in Baghdad. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer Isaias E. Santos. The incident is under investigation.

Morberg, 20, of Sparks , Nev.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 27 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Spc. Lance S. Sage.

  • Army Pfc. Jason D. Hasenauer, 21, of Hilton, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Dec. 28 when his Humvee accidentally rolled over during patrol operations near Kandahar, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Aaron M. Forbes, 24, of Oak Island, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 28 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Baghdad.

Lutz, II, 25, of Virginia Beach, Va.; assigned to the 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Dec. 29 when his dismounted patrol was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire in Fallujah, Iraq.

Pfender, 22, of Evansville, Ind.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Dec. 30 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations in Bayji, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Ayman A. Taha, 31, of Vienna, Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.; died Dec. 30 when he was preparing a munitions cache for demolition and the cache exploded in Balad, Iraq.
