  • Marine Lance Cpl. Mourad Ragimov, 20, of San Diego, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Jan. 26 when the CH-53E helicopter in which he was riding crashed near Rutbah, Iraq. Twenty-nine Marines and one sailor also were killed.

Rahaim, 22, of Magnolia, Miss.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized), Mississippi Army National Guard, McComb, Miss.; killed Feb. 16 when a roadway collapsed, causing his vehicle to roll over, at Forward Operating Base Iskandariyah, Iraq. Also killed was Army Sgt. Timothy R. Osbey.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Carl L. Raines II, 20, of Coffee, Ala.; assigned to Combat Service Support Detachment 21, 2nd Force Service Support Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Cherry Point, N.C.; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Oct. 6 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Qaim, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Rhonald D.   • Army Spc. Aleina Ramirez Gonzalez, 33, of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 3rd Brigade Troop Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed April 15 when a mortar struck her forward operating base in Tikrit, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Christopher Ramirez, 34, of McAllen, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed April 14 during combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Eric U. Ramirez, 31, of San Diego, Calif.; assigned to the 670th Military Police Company, Army National Guard, National City, Calif.; killed Feb. 12 when he was attacked by small-arms fire, a rocket-propelled grenade and an improvised explosive device in Abu Ghraib, Iraq.

  • Marine Staff Sgt. Gene Ramirez, 28, of San Antonio; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 10 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. William C. Ramirez, 19, of Portland, Ore.; assigned to Troop E, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.; killed Feb. 11 by an improvised explosive device while on a mounted patrol in Baghdad.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Christopher Ramos, 26, of Albuquerque, N.M.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 5 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Tamarra J. Ramos, 24, of Quakertown, Pa.; assigned to the 3rd Armor Medical Company, Medical Troop Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; died of non-combat related injuries Oct. 1 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.

  • Army Pfc. Brandon Ramsey, 21, of Calumet City, Ill.; assigned to the 933rd Military Police Company, Army National Guard, Chicago; killed in a vehicle accident Aug. 8 in Tallil, Iraq. Ramsey was part of a convoy escort mission when the vehicle in which he was riding rolled over during the chase of a suspicious vehicle.

  • Army Pvt. Carson J. Ramsey, 22, of Winkelman, Ariz.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 10 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Christopher J. Ramsey, 20, of Batchelor, La.; assigned to the 1088th Engineer Battalion, 256th Brigade Combat Team, Louisiana Army National Guard, New Roads, La.; killed Jan. 28 when an improvised explosive device struck a nearby vehicle in Baghdad. Also killed were Army Staff Sgt. Jonathan R. Reed and Army Spc. Michael S. Evans II.

  • Army Pfc. Joshua A. Ramsey, 19, of Defiance, Ohio; assigned to the 95th Military Police Battalion, Mannheim, Germany; died Dec. 12 in Baghdad of non-combat-related injuries.

  • Army Sgt. Edmond L. Randle, 26, of Miami, Fla.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed while conducting a surveillance sweep for improvised explosive devices Jan. 17, when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle struck such a device and overturned north of Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Cleston C. Raney, 20, of Rupert, Idaho; assigned to the 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed March 31 when an improvised explosive device hit his armored personnel carrier in Habbaniyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Jose C. Rangel, 43, of Saratoga, Calif.; assigned to the 1106th Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot, California Army National Guard, Fresno, Calif.; died Jan. 23 of non-combat-related injuries in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

  • Air Force Staff Sgt. Ray Rangel, 29, of San Antonio; assigned to the 7th Civil Engineering Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas; killed Feb. 13 while performing a canal rescue mission in Balad, Iraq.

  • Marine Capt. Patrick Marc M. Rapicault, 34, of St. Augustine, Fla.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 15 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Capt. Gregory A Ratzlaff, 36, of Olympia, Wash.; assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 166, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, Calif.; died Aug. 3 in a non-combat-related incident at Forward Operating Base Duke, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Rel A. Ravago IV, 21, of Glendale, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 23 when hostile forces attacked the vehicle in which he was riding in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Pierre A. Raymond, 28, of Lawrence, Mass.; assigned to the 228th Forward Support Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Reserve, Harrisburg, Pa.; died Sept. 20 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of injuries sustained Sept. 15 when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using indirect fire in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Omead H. Razani, 19, of Los Angeles; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp

  • Army Spc. Brandon M. Read, 21, of Greeneville, Tenn.; assigned to the 125th Transportation Company, Lexington, Ky.; killed Sept. 6 when his convoy came under attack by enemy forces using an improvised explosive device in Qayyarah West, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Jason C. Redifer, 19, of Stuarts Draft, Va.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Jan. 31 by enemy action in Babil province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Aaron H. Reed, 21, of Chillicothe, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Columbus, Ohio; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Aug. 3 when his amphibious assault vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device during combat operations south of Haditha, Iraq. Also killed were Marine Lance Cpls. Michael J. Cifuentes, Grant B. Fraser, Edward A. Schroeder II, Kevin G. Waruinge and William B. Wightman.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Jonathan R. Reed, 25, of Opelousa, La.; assigned to the 1088th Engineer Battalion, 256th Brigade Combat Team, Louisiana Army National Guard, New Roads, La.; killed Jan. 28 when an improvised explosive device struck a nearby vehicle in Baghdad.   • Army Pfc. Ryan E. Reed, 20, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; one of eight soldiers killed April 29 by a car bomb as his unit was doing a dismounted improvised-explosive device-sweep in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Tatjana Reed, 34, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; assigned to the 66th Transportation Company, Kaiserslautern, Germany; killed July 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle in Samarra, Iraq.

  • Marine Pfc. Christopher J. Reed, 20, of Craigmont, Idaho; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed July 10 in a non-combat-related vehicle accident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Gunnery Sgt. Edward T. Reeder, 32, of Camp Verde, Ariz.; assigned to Headquarters and Service Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 21 in a non-combat-related vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Aaron T. Reese, 31, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; assigned to the 135th Military Police Company, Army National Guard based in Brookpark, Ohio; killed while on patrol Dec. 10 when he fell into the Tigris River south of Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Gary L. Reese Jr., 22, of Ashland City, Tenn.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard, McMinnville, Tenn.; died Aug. 14 in Tuz, Iraq, of injuries sustained Aug. 13 when his Humvee came under attack by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Tuz, Iraq. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Asbury F. Hawn II and Sgt. Shannon D. Taylor.

  • Army Spc. Jeremy F. Regnier, 22, of Littleton, N.H.; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 13 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Randall S. Rehn, 36, of Longmont, Colo.; assigned to the C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Fort Sill, Okla.; killed in action in Iraq.

  • Army Maj. Stephen C. Reich, 34, of Washington Depot, Conn.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; killed June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

  • Marine Pfc. Andrew G. Riedel, 19, of Northglenn, Colo.; .; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Oct 30 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Brendon C. Reiss, 23, of Natrona, Wyo.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq, on March 23.

  • Marine Cpl. Kyle J. Renehan, 21, of Oxford, Pa.; assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.; died Dec. 9 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, of injuries sustained Nov. 29 by enemy action in Babil province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. George S. Rentschler, 31, of Louisville, Ky.; assigned to the Army’s 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; killed April 7 when his military vehicle was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade in Baghdad.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Justin D. Reppuhn, 20, of Hemlock, Mich.; assigned to 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 10 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Navy Interior Communications Electrician 1 Thomas E. Retzer, 30, of San Diego, Calif.; assigned to SEAL Team 2, Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, Va.; killed on June 25, 2003, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Ramon Reyes Torres, 29, Caguas, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 432nd Transportation Company, Cieba, Puerto Rico; killed July 16 in Baghdad as he sought cover from a passing truck that contained a command-detonated device.

  • Army Pfc. Seferino J. Reyna, 20, of Phoenix; assigned to the 70th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Aug. 7 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Sean C. Reynolds, 25, of East Lansing, Mich.; assigned to 74th Long-Range Surveillance Detachment 173rd Airborne Brigade, Camp Ederle, Italy; killed in Iraq when his M-4 rifle accidentally discharged after he fell off a ladder he had been climbing.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Rafael Reynosa Suarez, 28, of Santa Ana, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed May 29 by hostile action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Yadir G. Reynoso, 27, of Wapato, Wash.; assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1/4 (1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 5 by enemy action in Najaf province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. David L. Rice, 22, of Sioux City, Iowa; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died April 26 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, when his Humvee rolled over.

  • Army Cpl. Demetrius L. Rice, 24, of Ortonville, N.M.; assigned to 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed July 14 when his vehicle rolled over as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle in Talafar, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Bryan J. Richardson, 23, of Summersville, W.Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Moundsville, W.Va.; killed March 25 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Cpl. William D. Richardson, 23, of Moreno Valley, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; killed April 3 when he came under enemy fire, fell into a canal and drowned in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Ariel Rico, 25, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 28 during an enemy mortar attack in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Kenneth L. Ridgley, 30, of Olney, Ill.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash; died March 30 of injuries sustained when enemy forces using small-arms fire attacked his unit in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Jeremy L. Ridlen, 23, of Clinton, Ill.; assigned to the 1544th Transportation Company, Army National Guard, Paris, Ill.; killed May 23 by small-arms fire after insurgents detonated explosives in a dump truck on the side of the road as his military convoy passed by in East Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Air Force Staff Sgt. Juan M. Ridout, 36, of Maple Tree, Wash.; assigned to the 320th Special Tactics Squadron, based at Kadena Air Base, Japan, killed in an MH-47E crash during a training exercise, on Feb. 22, 2002 in the Philippines.

  • Marine Staff Sgt. David G. Ries, 29, of Clark, Wash.; assigned to the 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Reserve, Portland, Ore.; killed Nov. 8 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Wesley R. Riggs, 19, of Baytown, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died May 17 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted position in Tikrit, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Duane R. Rios, 25, of Griffith, Ind.; assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed during a firefight in central Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Hernando Rios, 29, of Queens, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, New York City; died Aug. 8 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Aug. 7, when his Humvee was struck by two improvised explosive devices and he received small-arms fire. Also killed was Spc. Anthony N. Kalladeen.

  • Army Capt. Russell B. Rippetoe, 27, of Arvada, Colo; assigned to A Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died from severe injuries in Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Henry C. Risner, 26, of Golden, Colo.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed Aug. 18 when his checkpoint came under attack by enemy small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Jose A. Rivera, 34, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, based in Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Nov. 5 when his unit came under attack by rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire in Mumuhdyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Timothy J. Roark, 29, of Houston; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 123rd Aviation Regiment, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, died on Oct. 2, of a non-combat related injury in Balad, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Thomas D. Robbins, 27, Schenectady, N.Y.; assigned to Troop A, 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment (Stryker), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Feb. 9 when a collection of unexploded ordinance, rocket-propelled grenades and mortar rounds detonated while being moved to a demolition point in Sinjar, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Todd J. Robbins, 33, of Pentwater, Mich.; assigned to the C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Fort Sill, Okla.; killed in action in Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. William T. Robbins, 31, of North Little Rock, Ark.; assigned to the 39th Infantry Brigade, Arkansas Army National Guard, Little Rock, Ark.; died Feb. 10 of non-combat-related injuries in Taji, Iraq.

  • Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 1 Neil C. Roberts, 32, of Woodland, Calif.; assigned to SEAL Team 2, Norfolk, Va.; killed during a rescue mission during Operation Anaconda on March 4, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Robert D. Roberts, 21, of Winter Park, Fla.; assigned to A Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based in Armstrong Barracks, Germany; killed Nov. 22 when a tank collided with his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Charles D. Robinson, 29, of Haddon Heights, N.J.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed June 3 when his convoy vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device at Forward Operating Base Orgun-E, Afghanistan. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Leroy E. Alexander.

  • Army Spc. Jeremiah W. Robinson, 20, of Mesa, Ariz.; assigned to the 860th Military Police Company, Arizona Army National Guard, Phoenix; died Oct. 6 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Oct. 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during convoy operations in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Lizbeth Robles, 31, of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group, Fort Carson, Colo.; died March 1 at the 228th Command Support Hospital in Tikirt, Iraq, from injuries sustained Feb. 28 in a military vehicle accident in Bayji, Iraq. Also killed was Army Sgt. Julio E. Negron.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Joseph E. Robsky Jr., 31, of Elizaville, N.Y.; assigned to the 759th Ordnance Company, Fort Irwin, Calif.; killed Sept. 10 in Baghdad, Iraq, by an improvised explosive device. Robsky was on call to neutralize an improvised explosive device after the initial attempt failed. When he returned to the site to render it safe, the explosive device detonated.

  • Marine Sgt. Moses D. Rocha, 33, of Roswell, N.M.; assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1/4 (1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died Aug. 5 of injuries sustained in enemy action near Najaf, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Nathaniel S. Rock, 26, of Toronto, Ohio; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Brook Park, Ohio; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Aug. 1 by enemy small-arms fire while conducting dismounted operations outside Haditha, Iraq. Also killed were Marine Cpl. Jeffrey A. Boskovitch, Marine Lance Cpl. Roger D. Castleberry Jr., Marine Sgt. David J. Coullard, Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel N. Deyarmin Jr. and Marine Lance Cpl. Brian P. Montgomery.

  • Army Pfc. Marlin T. Rockhold, 23, of Hamilton, Ohio; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in Iraq by a sniper while directing traffic on a Baghdad bridge.

  • Army Spc. Ricky W. Rockholt Jr., 28, of Winston, Ore.; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed April 28 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker military vehicle in Tal Afar, Iraq. Also killed were 1st Lt. William A. Edens, Sgt. Eric W. Morris and Pfc. Robert W. Murray Jr.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Joseph E. Rodriguez, 25 of Las Cruces, N.M.; assigned to the 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Jan. 28 when an improvised explosive device struck his armored vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Juan R. Rodriguez Velasco, 23, of El Cenizo, Texas; assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Corpus Christi, Texas; died Jan. 13 of injuries sustained due to enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Robert M. Rodriguez, 21, of Queens, N.Y.; assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed in action near the Euphrates River northwest of Nasiriyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Alan L. Rogers, 49, of Kearns, Utah; assigned to 1st Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment, Utah Army National Guard, West Jordan, Utah; died Sept. 29 of non-combat-related injuries in Bagram, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Philip G. Rogers, 23, of Gresham, Ore.; assigned to the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed April 4 when an improvised explosive device hit his military vehicle in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A. Romero, 30, of Lafayette, Colo.; assigned to the 19th Special Forces Group, Pueblo, Colo.; killed in an accidental explosion of ordnance on April 15, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Marine Pfc. Ramon Romero, 19, of Huntington Park, Calif.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; attached to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Aug. 22 when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck by an improvised explosive device while he was conducting combat operations near Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Brian M. Romines, 20, of Simpson, Ill.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery, Illinois Army National Guard, Milan, Ill.; killed June 6 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Edwin W. Roodhouse, 36, of San Jose, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea; killed Dec. 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Habbaniyah, Iraq. Also killed was Army Staff Sgt. Marvin L. Trost III.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert E. Rooney, 43, of Nashua, N.H.; assigned to the 379th Engineer Company, U.S. Army National Guard, based in Bourne, Mass.; died Sept. 25 at Shuabai Port, Kuwait, when he was struck by a forklift.

  • Marine Cpl. Randal Kent Rosacker, 21, of San Diego; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Richard H. Rosas, 21, of Saint Louis, Mich.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed May 25 when an improvised explosive device hit his patrol in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Scott C. Rose, 30, of Fayetteville, N.C.; assigned to 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 7 when a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was shot down in Tikrit, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Victor A. Rosales-Lomeli, 29, of Westminster, Calif.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; killed April 13 when an improvised explosive device exploded near his escort vehicle in Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Thomas C. Rosenbaum, 25, of Hope, Ark.; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 18 when an improvised explosive device hit his convoy vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Randy S. Rosenberg, 23, of Berlin, N.H.; assigned to Company B, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry, Fort Hood Texas; attached to Task Force All American; killed Jan. 24 when a vehicle-based improvised explosive device detonated in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Kenneth G. Ross, 24, of Peoria, Ariz.; assigned to the 7th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, Giebelstadt, Germany, killed Sept. 25 when his CH-47Chinook helicopter crashed southwest of Deh Chopan, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Marco D. Ross, 20, of Memphis, Tenn.; assigned to the 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Aug. 25 when enemy mortars hit his camp in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Lawrence A. Roukey, 33, of Westbrook, Maine; assigned to Detachment 1, 3rd Battalion, 304th Regiment, 98th Division, Army Reserve, Lewiston, Maine; killed April 26 by a large explosion while performing site security in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. David L. Roustum, 22, of West Seneca, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, New York Army National Guard, Tonawanda, N.Y.; killed Nov. 20 when his up-armored Humvee was attacked by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Marine Capt. Alan Rowe, 35, of Hagerman, Idaho; assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed Sept. 3 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Brandon J. Rowe, 20, of Roscoe, Ill.; assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed in action by enemy artillery in Ayyub, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Roger D. Rowe, 54, of Bon Aqua, Tenn.; assigned to the 1174th Troop Command, in Columbia, Tenn.; killed in an enemy sniper attack July 9 in Iraq.

  • Army Lt. Jonathan D. Rozier, 25, Katy, Texas; assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, of the 1st Armored Division, deployed from Fort Riley, Kan.; killed while providing security at a bank when his unit came under attack July 19 in Baghdad.

  • Army 2nd Lt. Charles R. Rubado, 23, of Clearwater, Fla.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo., killed Aug. 29 when his M1A2 Abrams tank came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire in Tal Afar, Iraq,

  • Army Spc. Isela Rubalcava, 25, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to the 296th Combat Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed May 8 when a mortar round hit nearby in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. David A. Ruhren, 20, of Stafford, Va.; assigned to 276th Engineer Battalion, Virginia Army National Guard, West Point, Va.; killed Dec. 21 when his base dining facility was attacked in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Jose L. Ruiz, 28, of Brentwood, N.Y.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Aug. 15 by small-arms fire from a civilian vehicle while he was conducting security operations in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Lorenzo Ponce Ruiz, 26, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to the 24th Transportation Company, 541st Maintenance Battalion, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Oct. 12 when his military vehicle collided with a civilian vehicle and overturned in Balad, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. Donald D. Furman.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Gregory P. Rund, 21, of Littleton, Colo.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Dec. 11 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Bruce A. Rushforth Jr., 35, of Middleboro, Mass.; assigned to E Co, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, based at Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed in an MH-47E crash during a training exercise, on Feb. 22, 2002 in the Philippines.

  • Army Pfc. Aaron J. Rusin, 19, of Johnstown, Pa.; assigned to the 44th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Howze, Korea; died Oct. 11 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Oct. 10 when his military vehicle came under fire from enemy forces.

  • Army Sgt. John W. Russell, 26, of Portland, Texas; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 15 when two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters went down in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael L. Russell, 31, of Stafford, Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; killed June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

  • Army Sgt. Monta S. Ruth, 26, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.; killed Aug. 31 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle during security patrol operations in Samarra, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Marc T. Ryan, 25, of Gloucester, N.J.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 15 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine 1st Lt. Timothy Louis Ryan, 30, of Aurora, Ill.; assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crash in the Shatt al Hillah Canal in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Lyle W. Rymer II, 24, of Fort Smith, Ark.; assigned to the 239th Engineer Company, 39th Infantry Brigade, Arkansas Army National Guard, Booneville, Ark.; killed Jan. 28 when he was shot by enemy forces in Baghdad.
