  • Marine Sgt. Fernando Padilla-Ramirez, 26, of Yuma, Ariz.; assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron-371, Marine Wing Support Group-37, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz.; went missing while conducting convoy operations near Nasiriyah, Iraq. His remains were identified April 10.

  • Army Pvt. 2 Shawn D. Pahnke, 25, of Shelbyville, Ind.; assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany; killed by enemy fire in Baghdad on June 16. Pahnke was on patrol when he received a fatal gunshot wound.

  • Army Spc. Gabriel T. Palacios, 22, of Lynn, Mass.; assigned to the 588th Engineer Battalion (Heavy), 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Jan. 21 in a mortar attack on his forward operating base in Ba’qubah, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Eric T. Paliwoda, 28, of Texas; assigned to 4th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), based in Fort Carson, Colo.; killed in action when his command post when it came under mortar attack, on Jan. 2 in Balad, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Jacob C. Palmatier, 29, of Springfield, Ill.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.; killed Feb. 24 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Muqdadiyah, Iraq.

  • Army Pvt. Christopher L. Palmer, 22, of Sacramento, Calif.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, Vicenza, Italy; killed on August 21 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations, near Baylough, Afghanistan.

  • Marine Cpl. Joshua D. Palmer, 24, of Blandinsville, Ill.; assigned to the 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Reserve, Portland, Ore.; killed Nov. 8 in a non-hostile vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine 1st Lt. Joshua M. Palmer, 25, of Banning, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 8 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Jason T. Palmerton, 25, of Auburn, Neb.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed July 23 when he came under enemy small-arms fire while conducting a dismounted patrol in Qal'eh-Yegaz, Afghanistan.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Dale A. Panchot, 26, of Northome, Minn.; assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Carson, Colo.; killed Nov. 17 by enemy fire while on patrol south of Balad, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Larry W. Pankey Jr., 34, of Morrison, Colo.; assigned to the 467th Engineer Battalion, Army Reserve, Greenwood, Miss.; died Oct. 3 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., of non-combat-related injuries sustained Sept. 23 in Balad, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Daniel R. Parker, 18, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; assigned to B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed when he was thrown from a military vehicle as the driver swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle Aug. 12 in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Kristian E. Parker, 23, of Slidell, La.; assigned to the 205th Engineer Battalion, Louisiana National Guard, Slidell, La.; killed in a non-combat-related incident on Sept. 29, 2003, in Qatar.

  • Army Sgt. Kenya A. Parker, 26, of Fairfield, Ala.; assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died April 30 of a non-combat-related medical condition in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Saburant Parker, 43, of Foxworth, Miss.; assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment, Mississippi Army National Guard, Biloxi, Miss.; killed May 23 when his military vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Haswa, Iraq. Also killed were Spc. Bryan Edward Barron, Spc. Audrey Daron Lunsford and Sgt. Daniel Ryan Varnado.

  • Marine Cpl. Tommy L. Parker Jr., 21, of Cleburne, Ark.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed June 21 killed in an ambush in Ramadi, Iraq, 60 miles west of Baghdad.

  • Navy Engineman 1st Class Vincent Parker, 38, of Preston, Mich.; based at Norfolk Naval Station, Va.; drowned aboard an Iraqi freighter that sank on Nov. 18, 2001, in the Persian Gulf.

  • Marine Sgt. Harvey E. Parkerson III, 27, of Yuba City, Calif.; assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1/4 (1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 18 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. David B. Parson, 30, Kannapolis, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedburg, Germany; shot and killed while conducting a raid on a house in Baghdad July 6.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Lonnie J. Parson, 39, of Norcross, Ga.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Sept. 2 when his M3A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle was struck by an enemy explosive device in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Willard T. Partridge, 35, of Ferriday, La.; assigned to the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Aug. 20 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Esau G. Patterson Jr., 25, of Ridgeland, S.C.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; one of eight soldiers killed April 29 by a car bomb as his unit was doing a dismounted improvised-explosive device-sweep in Baghdad.

  • Marine Sgt. Jayton D. Patterson, 26, of Sedley, Va.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Jan. 15 by enemy action in Babil province, Iraq.

  • Navy Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class (SEAL) Eric S. Patton, 22, of Boulder City, Nev.; assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; killed June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

  • Marine Cpl. Ronald R. Payne Jr., 23, of Lakeland, Fla.; assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed May 7, 2004, by hostile action in the vicinity of Tawara, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Rocky D. Payne, 26, of Howell, Utah; assigned to the 497th Transportation Company, 44th Corps Support Battalion, 1st Corps Support Command, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed March 16 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Iraq.

  • Army Master Sgt. William L. Payne, 46, of Otsego, Mich.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed in an accidental ordnance explosion in Haswah, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. George J. Payton, 20, of Culver City, Calif.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 14 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Michael F. Pedersen, 26, of Flint, Mich.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; killed in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash in central Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Gennaro Pellegrini Jr., 31, of Philadelphia; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized), Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Philadelphia; killed Aug. 9 when a mine exploded and enemy forces attacked using small-arms fire as he was investigating a rocket-propelled grenade incident in Bayji, Iraq. Also killed were Pfc. Nathaniel E. Detample, Spc. John Kulick and Sgt. Francis J. Straub Jr.

  • Marine Gunnery Sgt. Javier Obleas-Prado Pena, 36, of Falls Church, Va.; assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Dec. 1 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, from injuries sustained Nov. 25 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Navy Seaman Pablito Pena Briones Jr., 22, of Anaheim, Calif.; assigned to 1st Marine Division Detachment, Naval Medical Center San Diego; died Dec. 28 of a non-hostile gunshot wound in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Abraham D. Penamedina, 32, of Los Angeles; assigned to Company B, 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 27 when his patrol came under sniper fire in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Jorge L. Pena-Romero, 29, of Fallbrook, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.; killed July 16 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee as his unit was conducting a mounted patrol in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Gregory V. Pennington, 36, of Glade Spring, Va.; assigned to 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed June 21 when his camp came under mortar attack in Baghdad.

  • Marine Sgt. Rafael Peralta, 25, of San Diego; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Nov. 15 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Geoffrey Perez, 24, of Los Angeles; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died Aug. 15 of injuries sustained in enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Hector R. Perez, 40, of Corpus Christi, Texas; assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed when his convoy came under enemy fire north of Hawd, Iraq, on July 24.

  • Army Sgt. Joel Perez, 25, of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, based in Fort Sill, Okla.; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Luis A. Perez, 19, of Theresa, N.Y.; assigned to the 223rd Transportation Company, Army Reserve, Norristown, Pa.; killed Aug. 27 when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas Perez, 19, of Austin, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed Sept. 3 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Richard A. Perez Jr., 19, of Las Vegas; assigned to the 6th Motor Transport Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Forces Reserve, Las Vegas; killed Feb. 10 in a non-hostile vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Wilfredo Perez Jr., 24, Norwalk, Conn.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed July 26 as a result of a grenade being thrown from a window of an Iraqi civilian hospital he was helping guard in Baqubah, Iraq.

  • Navy Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class (SW) Michael J. Pernaselli, 27, of Monroe, N.Y.; assigned to patrol coastal Firebolt, forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; killed April 24 in a waterborne attack in the northern Persian Gulf.

  • Army Sgt. Theodore L. Perreault, 33, of Webster, Mass.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts National Guard (attached to Joint Task Force Gitmo), Worcester, Mass.; died of a non-combat-related cause on Dec. 23, 2003, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

  • Army Staff Sgt. David S. Perry, 36, of Bakersfield, Calif.; assigned to 649th Military Police Company, Army National Guard, Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif.; killed when a suspicious package he was inspecting exploded Aug. 10 in Baquabah, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Charles C. Persing, 20, of Albany, La.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed July 19 when multiple mortar rounds hit his forward operating base in Iskandariyah, Iraq.

  • Air Force Staff Sgt. Dustin W. Peters, 25, of El Dorado, Kan.; assigned to the 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.; killed July 11 by enemy action near Forward Operating Base Summerall, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Alyssa R. Peterson, 27, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; assigned C Company, 311th Military intelligence Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); died Sept. 15 near Tel Afar, Iraq, from a non-combat weapons discharge.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Daniel H. Petithory, 32, of Cheshire, Mass.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed in action in a friendly fire bombing, on Dec. 5, 2001 in Afghanistan.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Brett J. Petriken, 30, of Flint, Mich.; assigned to the 501st Military Police Company, Wiesbaden, Germany; killed in a vehicle accident in Samawah, Iraq, May 26.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Neil D. Petsche, 21, of Lena, Ill.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died Dec. 21 of injuries sustained in a non-hostile vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

Pettaway Jr., 37, of Baltimore; assigned to the 223rd Transportation Company, Army Reserve, Norristown, Pa.; died Oct. 3 at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, of injuries sustained Aug. 27 when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Erickson H. Petty, 28, of Fort Gibson, Okla.; assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Smith Barracks, Baumholder, Germany; killed by small-arms fire May 3 while conducting security of a weapons cache in Salman al Habb, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Jerrick M. Petty, 25, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed while guarding a gas station Dec. 10 when his position was attacked by enemy forces in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Jacob M. Pfister, 27, of Buffalo, N.Y.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed April 19 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Army Pfc. Kevin S. K. Wessel.

  • Army Lt. Col. Mark P. Phelan, 44, of Green Lane, Pa.; assigned to the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, Morristown, Pa.; killed Oct. 13 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle in Mosul, Iraq. Also killed was Maj. Charles R. Soltes Jr.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Chance R. Phelps, 19, of Clifton, Colo.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 9 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Pierre E. Piche, 29, of Starksboro, Vt.; assigned to the 626th Forward Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 15 when two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crashed in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Dennis L. Pintor, 30, of Lima, Ohio; assigned to the 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 12 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol vehicle in Baghdad. Also killed were Spc. Jaime Moreno and Spc. Michael S. Weger.

  • Air Force Senior Airman Jason Plite, 21, of Lansing, Mich.; assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga.; killed in a HH-60G Pave Hawk crash on March 23, 2003, in Afghanistan.

  • Air Force Maj. Steven Plumhoff, 33, of Neshanic Station, N.J.; assigned to the 58th Operations Support Squadron, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.; killed in a MH-53M helicopter crash on Nov. 23, 2003, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Sgt. Adam J. Plumondore, 22, of Gresham, Ore.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Feb. 16 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Eric J. Poelman, 21, of Racine, Wis.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed June 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Baghdad. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Justin L. Vasquez and Pfc. Brian S. Ulbrich.

  • Marine Pfc. Jason T. Poindexter, 20, of San Angelo, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Sept. 12 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine 2nd Lt. Frederick E. Pokorney Jr., 31, of Tonopah, Nev.; assigned to the Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Andrew R. Pokorny, 30, of Naperville, Ill.; assigned to 3rd Air Defense Artillery, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; died June 13 in a vehicle accident in Asad, Iraq. On the way back from patrol, Pokorny’s M113 armored personnel carrier threw a track and went over a 4-foot drop-off on the side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over.

  • Army Spc. Justin W. Pollard, 21, of Foothill Ranch, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Carson, Colo.; died as a result of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident, on Dec. 30 in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Larry E. Polley, Jr., 20, of Center, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed while conducting a surveillance sweep for improvised explosive devices Jan. 17, when when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle struck such a device and overturned north of Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Master Sgt. James W. Ponder III, 36, of Franklin, Tenn.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Michael V. Postal, 21, Glen Oaks, N.Y.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed May 7 by enemy action while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Kentucky Army National Guard Sgt. Darrin K. Potter, 24, of Louisville, Ky.; assigned to the 223rd Military Police Company, Army National Guard, Louisville, Ky.; killed Sept. 29 when his vehicle left a road and went into a canal during a mission to search an area near Abu Ghraib Prison, outside Baghdad, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. David L. Potter, 22, of Johnson City, Tenn.; assigned to the 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 7 of non-combat-related injuries in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Christopher S. Potts, 38, of Tiverton, R.I.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 103rd Field Artillery Regiment, Rhode Island Army National Guard, Providence, R.I.; killed Oct. 3 when his unit, which was conducting traffic-control operations, was attacked by small-arms fire in Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Lynn R. Poulin Sr., 47, of Freedom, Maine; assigned to the 133rd Engineer Battalion, Maine Army National Guard, Belfast, Maine; killed Dec. 21 when his base dining facility was attacked in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Chad W. Powell, 22, of West Monroe, La.; assigned to Headquarters Company, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed June 23 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. James E. Powell, 26, of Radcliff, Ky.; assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based in Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 12 when his M2/A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle struck an enemy anti-tank mine in Baji, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Caleb J. Powers, 21, of Manfield, Wash.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 17 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Clint J. Prather, 32, of Cheney, Wash.; assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade, Gielbelstadt, Germany; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which he was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.

  • Marine Cpl. Dean P. Pratt, 22, of Stevensville, Mont.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 2 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Taylor B. Prazynski, 20, of Fairfield, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed May 9 in an explosion while he was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Karmah, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Brian P. Prening, 24, of Sheboygan, Wis.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve, Chicago; killed Nov 12 by enemy action in Babil province, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. James E. Prevete, 22, of Whitestone, N.Y.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, Camp Greaves, Korea; killed Oct. 10 when his military vehicle encountered white-out conditions and the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle in Habbaniya, Iraq.

  • Army Pvt. 2 Kelley S. Prewitt, 24, of Birmingham, Ala.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; killed in action in Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Tyler D. Prewitt, 22, of Phoenix; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; died Sept. 28 in Landstuhl, Germany, from injuries sustained Sept. 24 when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle in Baqubah, Iraq.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer Bruce E. Price, 37, of Maryland; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed May 15 when his unit was ambushed with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Kajaki, Afghanistan.

  • Army Pfc. James W. Price, 22, of Cleveland, Tenn.; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 18 when an improvised explosive device hit his convoy vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Army 1st Lt. Timothy E. Price, 25, of Midlothian, Va.; assigned to the 127th Military Police Company, 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, V Corps, Hanau, Germany; killed Sept. 7 by small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Army Cpl. Kevin W. Prince, 22, of Plain City, Ohio; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.; died April 23 in Baghdad of injuries sustained in Iskandariyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Neil A. Prince, 35, of Baltimore; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed June 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Taqaddum, Iraq. Also killed was Spc. Casey Byers.

  • Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jason Profitt, 23, of Charlestown, Md.; assigned to the destroyer Deyo, homeported in Norfolk, Va.; killed in a non-combat-related incident on March 17, 2003, in the Red Sea.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Brian C. Prosser , 28, of Frazier Park Calif.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed in action during a friendly fire bombing, on Dec. 5, 2001 in Afghanistan.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Mathew D. Puckett, 19, of Mason, Texas; assigned to 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Sept. 13 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Jaror C. Puello-Coronado, 36, of Pocono Summit, Pa.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 310th Military Police Battalion, in Uniondale, N.Y.; killed in a traffic accident July 13 at Camp Edson, Iraq. Puello-Coronado was manning a traffic point when the operator of a dump truck lost control of the vehicle and struck him.

  • Army Spc. Robert S. Pugh, 25, of Meridian, Miss.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry, Mississippi Army National Guard, McComb, Miss.; killed March 2 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Iskandariyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. George A. Pugliese, 39, of Carbondale, Pa.; assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, New Milford, Pa.; killed Sept. 28 when his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle was attacked by enemy forces using indirect fire in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed were: Staff Sgt. Daniel L. Arnold; Sgt. Eric W. Slebodnik; Spc. Lee A. Wiegand, and Pfc. Oliver J. Brown.

  • Army Sgt. Christopher M. Pusateri, 21, of Corning, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Feb.16 by enemy small-arms fire in Mosul, Iraq.
