  • Arkansas Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class William W. Labadie Jr., 45, of Bauxite, Ark.; assigned to Troop E, 151st Cavalry Squadron, 39th Infantry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Army National Guard, based in Marianna, Ark.; killed April 7 when his camp was attacked by rockets and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Joshua S. Ladd, 20, of Port Gibson, Miss.; assigned to the 367th Maintenance Company, Army National Guard, DeKalb, Miss.; killed May 1 when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Anthony S. Lagman, 26, of Yonkers, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed March 18 when his team came under small-arms fire while clearing a village in Dehrawood, Afghanistan.

  • Army Sgt. Chad W. Lake, 26, of Ocala, Fla.; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Feb. 13 when the vehicle in which he was riding overturned in Balad, Iraq. Also killed were Sgt. Rene Knox Jr. and Spc. Dakotah L. Gooding.

  • Marine Sgt. Michael V. Lalush, 23, of Troutville, Va.; assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA)-169, Marine Air Craft Group-39, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in a helicopter crash in southern Iraq.

  • Lance Cpl. Alan Dinh Lam, 19, of Snow Camp, N.C; assigned to the 8th Communication Battalion, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in a non-hostile accident when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher being fired for familiarization malfunctioned near Kut, Iraq. The incident is under investigation.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Jeffrey Lam, 22, of Queens, N.Y.; assigned to the 6th Communications Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Reserve, Brooklyn, N.Y.; killed Nov. 8 in a non-hostile vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Charles R. Lamb, 23, of Casey, Ill.; assigned to the 1544th Transportation Company, Illinois Army National Guard, Paris, Ill.; killed Sept. 5 during a mortar attack in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. James I. Lambert III, 22, of Raleigh, N.C.; assigned to the 407th Combat Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed by a stray bullet fired during what was believed to be a celebratory event by local nationals July 31 in Baghdad.

  • Army Pfc. James P. Lambert, 23, of Ascension Parish, La.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed May 25 when an improvised explosive device hit his patrol in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Jonathan W. Lambert, 28, of New Site, Miss.; assigned to the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died June 1 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, as a result of injuries he suffered May 26 when his Humvee rolled over in Iraq.

  • Marine Capt. Andrew David La Mont, 31, of Eureka, Calif.; assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crash in the Shatt al Hillah Canal in Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Sean G. Landrus, 31, of Thompson, Ohio; assigned to Company B, 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Riley, Kan.; died Jan. 29 at the 28th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq of injuries sustained two days earlier when a roadside improvised explosive device exploded in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Mitchell A. Lane, 34, of Lompoc Calif.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed after falling during fast-rope infiltration into a cave complex on Aug. 29, 2003, in Afghanistan.

  • Marine Gunnery Sgt. Shawn A. Lane, 33, of Corning, N.Y.; assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed July 28 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Moises A. Langhorst, 19, of Moose Lake, Minn.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 5 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Sean M. Langley, 20, of Lexington, Ky.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 7 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Steven M. Langmack, 33, of Seattle; assigned to Headquarters, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died May 31 of injuries sustained from enemy small-arms fire during combat operations in Qaim, Iraq.

  • Army Cpl. Stanley J. Lapinski, 35, of Las Vegas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed June 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Marine Cpl. Christopher J. Lapka, 22, of Peoria, Ariz.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Oct. 30 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Tracy L. Laramore, 30, of Okaloosa, Fla.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, Schweinfurt, Germany; died March 17 of injuries sustained when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle went over an embankment and flipped over into a river in Baji, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Bryan W. Large, 31, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Oct. 3 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Haqlaniyah, Iraq. Also killed were: Pfc. Roberto C. Baez and Spc. Jacob T. Vanderbosch.

  • Army Pfc. Cole W. Larsen, 19, of Canyon Country, Calif.; assigned to the 272nd Military Police Company, 21st Theater Support Command, Mannheim, Germany; killed Nov. 13 when a civilian vehicle struck his military vehicle, causing it to roll over, in Baghdad.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas D. Larson, 19, of Wheaton, Ill.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 9 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Scott Q. Larson Jr., 22, of Houston; assigned to 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Ray Barracks, Friedberg, Germany; killed April 5 when his convoy was ambushed in Baghdad.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Matthew C. Laskowski, 32, of Phoenix, Ariz.; assigned to the 4th Squadron, Outlaw Troop, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed Feb. 25 when the OH-58 helicopter in which he was flying crashed in Habbinayah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. William T. Latham, 29, of Kingman, Ariz.; assigned to Troop E, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; died June 18, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Latham was participating in a raid at a suspected arms market in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on May 19 when he was hit by shrapnel. Latham was evacuated back to the United States where he died of his wounds.

  • Army Pfc. Karina S. Lau, 20, of Livingston, Calif.; assigned to the 16th Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Casey M. LaWare, 19, of Redding, Calif.; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.; died April 9 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of non-combat-related injuries sustained April 6 in Mahmudiyah, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Jeffrey D. Lawrence, 22, of Tucson, Ariz.; assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died July 6 from enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Mark A. Lawton, 41, of Hayden, Colo.; assigned to the 244th Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, Grand Junction, Colo.; killed Aug. 29 when his convoy was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade north of Suaydat, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Travis J. Layfield, 19, of Fremont, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 6 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Binh N. Le, 20, of Alexandria, Va.; assigned to 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Dec. 3 of injuries sustained in enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer Patrick D. Leach, 39, of Rock Hill, S.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 151st Aviation Regiment, South Carolina Army National Guard, Columbia, S.C.; killed Dec. 9 in an Apache helicopter accident in Mosul, Iraq. Also killed was Army 1st Lt. Andrew C. Shields.

  • Army Spc. Jeff LeBrun, 21, of Buffalo, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed Jan. 1 when his military vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Rene Ledesma, 34, of Abilene, Texas; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed May 15 when an improvised explosive device exploded near his Bradley fighting vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Marine 2nd Lt. Ryan Leduc, 28, of Pana, Ill.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Sept. 24 in a non-combat-related vehicle accident in Rutbah, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Bum R. Lee, 21, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed June 2 by hostile action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Carl W. Lee, 23, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Howze, Korea; killed Nov. 28 when his unit was conducting a dismounted patrol and encountered enemy forces using small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed was Army Staff Sgt. Michael B. Shackelford.

  • Marine Sgt. James S. Lee, 26, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 142, Marine Aircraft Group 42, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marietta, Ga.; attached to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, Marine Aircraft Group 42, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which he was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.

  • Army Pfc. Samuel S. Lee, 19, of Anaheim, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea; died March 28 of non-combat-related injuries in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Terrance D. Lee Sr., 25, of Moss Point, Miss.; assigned to the 150th Combat Engineer Battalion, 155th Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi Army National Guard, Lucedale, Miss.; killed June 11 when his armored personnel carrier was hit by an improvised explosive device in Owesat Village, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. Larry R. Arnold Sr.

  • Army Sgt. Michael R. Lehmiller, 23, of Anderson, S.C.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, Vicenza, Italy; killed on August 21 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations, near Baylough, Afghanistan.

  • Marine Staff Sgt. Jason A. Lehto, 31, of Mount Clemens, Mich.; assigned to Marine Wing Support Group 47, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, Mt. Clemens, Mich.; killed Dec. 28 in a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Ken W. Leisten, 20, of Cornelius, Ore., assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry, Oregon Army National Guard, Corvallis, Ore.; killed July 28 when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Jerome Lemon, 42, of North Charleston, S.C.; assigned to the 1052nd Transportation Company, South Carolina Army National Guard, Kingstree, S.C.; killed Oct. 27 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Balad, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Cedric L. Lennon, 32, of West Blocton, Ala.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.; died June 24 in Baghdad, Iraq, from a non-combat-related cause.

  • Army Pfc. Jesus A. Leon-Perez, 20, of Houston, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; killed Jan. 24 when his Bradley fighting vehicle overturned in Mohammed Sacran, Iraq. Four other soldiers were also killed.

  • Army Spc. Farao K. Letufuga, 20, of Pago Pago, American Samoa; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died after falling from the top of a building while he was performing guard duty Aug. 5 in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Lee A. Lewis Jr., 28, of Norfolk, Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed March 18 when his patrol was attacked by enemy small-arms fire in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Jesse M. Lhotka, 24, of Alexandria, Minn.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard, Montevideo, Minn.; killed Feb. 21 when an improvised explosive device detonated as he was assisting injured soldiers in his unit in Baghdad. Also killed were Army 1st Lt. Jason G. Timmerman and Army Staff Sgt. David F. Day.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Victoir P. Lieurance, 34, of Seymour, Tenn.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee National Guard, Sparta, Tenn., killed Aug. 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations in Samarra, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Michael B. Lindemuth, 27, of Petoskey, Mich.; assigned to Inspector/Instructor Staff, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Akron, Ohio; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); died April 13 as a result of wounds sustained from enemy mortar fire at Camp Hit in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Justin W. Linden, 22, of Portland, Ore.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry, Army National Guard, Cottage Grove, Ore.; killed June 4 when his convoy was attacked by improvised explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Roger G. Ling, 20, of Douglaston, N.Y.; assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Feb. 19 of injuries sustained from small-arms fire and an improvised explosive device attack in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Karl R. Linn, 20, of Chesterfield, Va.; assigned to the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve, Lynchburg, Va.; died Jan. 26 of wounds sustained in enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Joseph L. Lister, 22, of Pleasanton, Kan.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 34th Armored Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort Riley, Kan.; killed while riding in a convoy Nov. 20 when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Tommy S. Little, 47, of Aliceville, Ala.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 114th Field Artillery Regiment, Mississippi Army National Guard,Columbus, Miss.; died May 2 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries sustained on April 19 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee near Iskandariyah, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Nino D. Livaudais, 23, of Ogden, Utah; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died from severe injuries sustained in car-bomb suicide attack in Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Dale T. Lloyd, 22, of Watsontown, Pa.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed July 19 when multiple mortar rounds hit his forward operating base in Iskandariyah, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Daniel J. Londono, 22, of Boston; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed March 13 when an improvised explosive device struck his military vehicle in Baghdad. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Clint D. Ferrin and Pfc. Joel K. Brattain.

  • Army Spc. Ryan P. Long, 21, of Seaford, Del.; assigned to A Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died from severe injuries sustained in car-bomb suicide attack in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Zachariah W. Long, 20, of Milton, Pa.; assigned to the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed in a vehicle accident near Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Cpl. William A. Long, 26, of Lilburn, Ga.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.; died June 18 in Baqubah, Iraq, of injuries sustained on June 17 when he was on mounted patrol and his Humvee was attacked by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades in Buritz, Iraq. Also killed was1st Lt. Noah Harris.

  • Army Pfc. Duane E. Longstreth, 19, of Tacoma, Wash.; assigned to Company B, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died of non-combat related injuries on Aug. 7 in Baghdad.

  • Marine Sgt. Edgar E. Lopez, 27, of Los Angeles; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Aug. 28 by enemy action in Babil province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Hilario F. Lopez, 22, of Ingleside, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Dec. 12 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Juan Lopez, 22, of Whitfield, Ga.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed June 21 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Manuel Lopez III, 20, of Cape Coral, Fla.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed April 12 when his Humvee was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade in Baghdad.

  • Marine Sgt. Richard M. Lord, 24, of Jacksonville, Fla.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Aug. 18 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Air Force A1C Raymond Losano, 24, of Del Rio Texas; 14th Air Support Operations Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; died on April 28, 2003, of wounds received April 25 in Afghanistan.

  • Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Matthew Scott Lourey, 40, of East Bethel, Minn.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died May 27 of injuries sustained on May 26 when his OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter came under attack from small-arms fire and crashed in Buhriz, Iraq. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joshua Michael Scott.

  • Army Staff Sgt. David L. Loyd, 44, of Jackson, Tenn.; assigned to the 1175th Transportation Company, Army National Guard, Brownsville, Tenn.; died in a Kuwaiti hospital after experiencing chest pains while on a mission on Aug. 5 in Kuwait.

  • Army Sgt. Angelo L. Lozada Jr., 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Hovey, Korea; killed April 16 while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Victor R. Lu, 22, of Los Angeles; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov. 13 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Navy Electronics Technician 1st Class (SEAL) Jeffery A. Lucas, 33, of Corbett, Ore.; assigned to SEAL Team 10, Virginia Beach, Va.; killed June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Joshua E. Lucero, 19, of Tucson, Ariz.; assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Nov. 27 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Wyoming Army National Guard Capt. Robert L. Lucero, 34, of Casper, Wyo.; assigned to the 4th Infantry Division Rear Area Operation Center, U.S. Army National Guard, Casper, Wyo.; killed Sept. 25 by an improvised explosive device in Tikrit, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Jason C. Ludlam, 22, of Arlington, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, based in Vilseck, Germany; died March 19 when he was electrocuted while laying telephone wires in Baqoubah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Jacob R. Lugo, 21, of Flower Mound, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed Aug. 24 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Pfc. John Lukac, 19, of Las Vegas; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Oct. 30 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Kevin M. Luna, 26, of Oxnard, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; died Jan. 27 of non-combat-related injuries in Muqdadiyah, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Audrey Daron Lunsford, 29, of Sardis, Miss.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment, Mississippi Army National Guard, McComb, Miss.; killed May 23 when his military vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Haswa, Iraq. Also killed were Spc. Bryan Edward Barron, Staff Sgt. Saburant Parker and Sgt. Daniel Ryan Varnado.

  • Army Capt. Joe F. Lusk II, 25, of Reedley, Calif.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Jan. 21 of non-combat-related injuries at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

  • Army Sgt. Derrick J. Lutters, 24, of Burlington, Colo.; assigned to the 891st Engineer Battalion, Kansas Army National Guard, Pittsburg, Kan.; killed May 1 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated while his unit was inspecting a bridge for enemy tampering along a supply route in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Wai P. Lwin, 27, of Queens, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, New York Army National Guard, Manhattan, New York; killed March 2 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Baghdad. Also killed was Army Spc. Azhar Ali.

  • Army Pfc. Jason N. Lynch, 21, of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, Bamberg, Germany; killed June 18 by small-arms fire as his unit was engaging the enemy in Buhriz, Iraq.

  • Marine 1st Lt. Matthew D. Lynch, 25, of Jericho, N.Y.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Oct. 31 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Christopher P. Lyons, 24, of Shelby, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Columbus, Ohio; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed July 28 when his unit came under attack by enemy small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades while conducting combat operations in Cykla, Iraq.
