  • Army Spc. Nicholas R. Idalski, 23, of Crown Point, Ind.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed June 21 when his unit was conducting combat operations and was attacked by enemy forces using small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Thor H. Ingraham, 24, of Murrysville, Pa.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea; killed May 8 when he was conducting combat operations and an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Khalidiyah, Iraq. Also killed was Pfc. Nicolas E. Messmer.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Henry E. Irizarry, 38, of Bronx, New York; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, New York Army National Guard, New York, N.Y.; killed Dec. 3 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee while his unit was on patrol in Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Benjamin W. Isenberg, 27, of Sheridan, Ore.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry, Oregon Army National Guard, Corvallis, Ore.; killed Sept. 13 when his military vehicle came under attack by small-arms fire and an improvised explosive device in Taji, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Craig S. Ivory, 26, of Port Matilda, Pa.; assigned to the 501st Forward Support Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade, Southern European Task Force, Vicenza, Italy; died of a non-combat-related cause Aug. 17 in Homberg University Hospital, Germany. Ivory had been medically evacuated from Kuwait on Aug. 12.

  • Marine Staff Sgt. Kendall H. Ivy II, 28, of Crawford, Ohio; assigned to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed May 11 in an explosion while he was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Karabilah, Iraq.

  • Army 1st Lt. Edward D. Iwan, 28, of Albion, Neb.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; killed Nov. 12 when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his Bradley Fighting Vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq.
