  • Marine Lance Cpl. Shayne M. Cabino, 19, of Canton, Mass., assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C., killed Oct. 6 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Al Karmah, Iraq.

  • Army Cpl. Juan C. Cabral Banuelos, 25, of Emporia, Kan.; assigned to Company A, 4th Forward Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Hood, Texas; killed Jan. 31 when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Kirkuk, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Marshall H. Caddy, 27, of Nags Head, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Greaves, Korea; killed Nov. 16 when his military vehicle struck another military vehicle in Khaladiyah, Iraq.

  • Marine Pfc. Cody S. Calavan, 19, of Lake Stevens, Wash.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed May 29 by hostile action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. Juan Calderon Jr., 26, of Weslaco, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Aug. 2 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Pablo A. Calderon, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Nov. 30 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq. Also killed was Army Sgt. Jose Guereca.

  • Army Sgt. Charles T. Caldwell, 38, of North Providence, R.I.; assigned to the 115th Military Police Company, Army National Guard, Cranston, R.I.; killed Sept. 1 when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device on Main Supply Route Tampa, south of Baghdad, Iraq. Caldwell was one of two soldiers killed in the incident.

  • Army Spc. Nathaniel A. Caldwell, 27, of Omaha, Neb.; assigned to 404th Air Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed in a vehicle accident in Baghdad. Caldwell was responding to a civilian call when his vehicle rolled over.

  • Army Sgt. Carlos M. Camacho-Rivera, 24, of Carolina, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 368th Transportation Company, 11th Transportation Battalion, Fort Story, Va.; died Nov. 5 in the 31st Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad from wounds sustained earlier that day in a rocket blast in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Rhode Island Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Joseph Camara, 40, of New Bedford, Mass.; assigned to the 115th Military Police Company, U.S. Army National Guard, Cranston, R.I.; killed Sept. 1 on Main Supply Route Tampa, south of Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. Another soldier also died in the incident.

  • Army Cpl. Lyle J. Cambridge, 23, of Shiprock, N.M.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed July 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations in Baghdad.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Damion G. Campbell, 23, of Baltimore; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, Vicenza, Italy; killed Aug. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during a combat patrol in Khayr Kot, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Jeremy M. Campbell, 21, of Middlebury, Pa.; assigned to the 108th Military Police Company, 503rd Military Police Battalion (Airborne), 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne), killed Sept. 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations in Baghdad, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Michael C. Campbell, 34, of Marshfield, Mo.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany; killed May 19 when his convoy hit an improvised explosive device in Samarra, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Ryan M. Campbell, 25, of Kirksville, Mo.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; one of eight soldiers killed April 29 by a car bomb as his unit was doing a dismounted improvised-explosive device-sweep in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Marvin A. Camposiles, 25, of Austell, Ga.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany; killed April 17 when he was electrocuted while performing routine generator maintenance in Samarra, Iraq.

  • Army Spec. Isaac Campoy, 21, of Douglas, Ariz.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 28 when his tank was hit with an improvised explosive device in Baqubah, Iraq.

  • Marine Cpl. Kelly M. Cannan, 21, of Lowville, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed April 20 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed was Marine Lance Cpl. Marty G. Mortenson.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Wesley J. Canning, 21, of Friendswood, Texas; assigned to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Nov. 10 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Navy Fireman (E-3) Jakia S. Cannon, 20, of Baltimore; assigned to the aircraft carrier Enterprise; died Oct. 25 of natural causes while underway in the Persian Gulf.

  • Marine Pfc. Ryan J. Cantafio, 22, of Beaver Dam, Wis.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve, Chicago; killed Nov. 25 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Ervin Caradine Jr., 33, of Memphis, Tenn.; assigned to the 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas; killed May 2 when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Adolfo C. Carballo, 20, of Houston; assigned to 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 10 when shrapnel struck him in Baghdad.

  • Marine Pfc. Michael M. Carey, 20, of Prince George, Va.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died May 18 after he apparently fell into a canal in Iraq and did not resurface. His body was recovered the same day.

  • Army Sgt. Deyson K. Cariaga, 20, of Honolulu; assigned to the 229th Military Intelligence Company, 29th Separate Infantry Brigade, Hawaii Army National Guard, Oahu, Kalaeloa, Hawaii; killed July 5 when the Humvee in which he was riding struck a land mine in Hammadi, Iraq.

  • Army Cpl. Richard P. Carl, 26, of King Hill, Idaho; assigned to 571st Air Medical Company, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed when his UH-60 air medical helicopter crashed in the Tigris River in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Ryan G. Carlock, 25, of Macomb, Ill.; assigned to the 416th Transportation Company, 260th Quartermaster Battalion (Petroleum Support), Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; killed Sept. 9 northwest of Baghdad when his fuel truck was attacked by the enemy.

  • Army Sgt. Michael C. Carlson, 22, of St. Paul, Minn.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany; killed Jan. 24 when his Bradley fighting vehicle overturned in Mohammed Sacran, Iraq. Four other soldiers were also killed.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Benjamin R. Carman, 20, of Jefferson, Iowa; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 6 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Edward W. Carman, 27 of McKeesport, Pa.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Armored Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 17 when his tank’s track broke, causing the driver to lose control, and the tank rolled off a bridge in Baghdad.

  • North Carolina Army National Guard Spc. Jocelyn L. Carrasquillo, 28, of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard, Wilmington, N.C.; killed March 13 when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle on the main supply route in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Miguel Carrasquillo, 25, of River Grove, Ill.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Aug. 9 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Rafael A. Carrillo Jr., 21, of Boys Ranch, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed June 28 when an enemy mortar detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. James D. Carroll, 23, of McKenzie, Tenn.; assigned to the 230th Engineer Battalion, Tennessee Army National Guard, McKenzie, Tenn.; killed July 31 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee outside Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Justin B. Carter, 21, of Mansfield, Mo.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Benning, Ga.; died Feb. 16 of non-combat-related injuries at Forward Operating Base McKenzie, near Samarra, Iraq.

  • Marine Sgt. David M. Caruso, 25, of Naperville, Ill.; assigned to 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Nov. 9 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Frank T. Carvill, 51, of Carlstadt, N.J.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery, Lawrenceville, N.J.; killed June 4 when his convoy was attacked by improvised explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades in Baghdad.

  • Army Pfc. Jose Casanova, 23, of El Monte, Calif.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Oct. 13 in Baghdad when an Iraqi dump truck swerved and rolled over on top of his Humvee.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Virgil R. Case, 37, of Mountain Home, Idaho; assigned to the 145th Support Battalion, 116th Brigade Combat Team, Idaho Army National Guard, Mountain Home, Idaho; died June 1 of non-combat-related injuries in Kirkuk, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Christopher S. Cash, 36, of Winterville, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry, Army National Guard, Jacksonville, N.C.; killed June 24 when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle came under attack by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Baqubah, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Ahmed A. Cason, 24, of McCalla, Ala.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 4 when his unit was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. James A. Casper, 20, of Coolidge, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died March 25 as a result of a non-combat related incident at al Asad, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Paul J. Cassidy, 36, of Laingsburg, Mich.; assigned to the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion in Wis.; died July 13 as a result of non-combat injuries at Camp Babylon, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Stephen A. Castellano, 21, of Long Beach, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; died Jan. 28 of a non-combat-related injury in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Mario A. Castillo, 20, of Brownwood, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed June 10 in an explosion while conducting combat operations in Saqlawiyah, Iraq. Also killed was Lance Cpl. Andrew J. Kilpela.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Samuel T. Castle, 26, of Naples, Texas; assigned to the 327th Signal Battalion, 35th Signal Brigade, Fort Bragg. N.C.; died May 11 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated in Asad, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Roger D. Castleberry Jr., 26, of Austin, Texas; assigned to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, San Antonio; attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Aug. 1 by enemy small-arms fire while conducting dismounted operations outside Haditha, Iraq. Also killed were Marine Cpl. Jeffrey A. Boskovitch, Marine Sgt. David J. Coullard, Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel N. Deyarmin Jr., Marine Lance Cpl. Brian P. Montgomery and Marine Sgt. Nathaniel S. Rock.

  • Army Spc. Jonathan Castro, 21, of Corona, Calif.; assigned to 73rd Engineer Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Dec. 21 when his base dining facility was attacked in Mosul, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Roland L. Castro, 26, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 12th Field Artillery, based at Fort Sill, Okla.; died from a non-hostile gunshot wound, Jan. 16, in Camp Cedar II, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Sean K. Cataudella, 28, of Tucson, Ariz.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 30 when the military vehicle he was driving hit an embankment and rolled into a canal in Ba’qubah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Steven C. T. Cates, 22, of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed Sept. 20 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine 2nd Lt. James J. Cathey, 24, of Reno, Nev.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C., killed Aug. 21 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations near Al Karmah, Iraq.

  • Army Pfc. Thomas D. Caughman, 20, of Lexington, S.C.; assigned to Company C, 391st Engineer Battalion, Army Reserve, Spartanburg, S.C.; killed June 9 when his up-armored Humvee was struck by rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Marine Staff Sgt. James W. Cawley, 41, of Roy, Utah; assigned to F Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, in Salt Lake City, Utah; killed in action in Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Jessica L. Cawvey, 21, of Normal, Ill.; assigned to the 1544th Transportation Company, Illinois Army National Guard, Paris, Ill.; killed Oct. 6 when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class David A. Cedergren, 25, of South St. Paul, Minn.; assigned to the 2nd Marine Division Fleet Marine Forces Atlantic; died Sept. 11 in a non-combat-related incident near Iskandariayah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Manuel A. Ceniceros, 23, of Santa Ana, Calif.; assigned to Regimental Combat Team 1 Headquarters Company, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed June 26 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Bernard L. Ceo, 23, of Baltimore; assigned to the 243rd Engineer Company, Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore; killed Oct. 14 when he was conducting convoy operations and an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the rear of his Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate in Taji, Iraq. Also killed were Sgt. Brian R. Conner and Spc. Samuel M. Boswell.

  • Marine Sgt. Aaron N. Cepeda Sr., 22, San Antonio; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), San Antonio; killed May 7 by enemy action while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Victor H. Cervantes, 27, of Stockton, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed June 10 when he came under small-arms fire while on patrol in Orgun-e, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spec. Doron Chan, 20, of Highland, N.Y.; assigned to the 411th Engineer Brigade, Army Reserve, New Windsor, N.Y.; killed March 18 when his convoy vehicle was cut off by a civilian vehicle near Balad, Iraq. Chan’s vehicle swerved, crossed into oncoming traffic and flipped over.

  • Marine Cpl. Kemaphoom A. Chanawongse, 22, of Waterford, Conn.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed near Nasiriyah on March 23. He was listed as missing until April 14, when the Defense Department announced his remains had been identified.

  • Mississippi Army National Guard Spc. James A. Chance III, 25, of Kokomo, Miss.; assigned to C Company, 890th Engineer Battalion, Army National Guard, based in Columbia, Miss.; killed Nov. 6 when his vehicle struck a landmine in Husaybah, Iraq.

  • Army Capt. Jeremy A. Chandler, 30, of Clarksville, Tenn.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Aug. 11 while conducting training operations at Forward Operating Base Ripley in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.

  • Army Staff Sgt. William D. Chaney, 59, of Schaumburg, Ill.; assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 106th Aviation Regiment, Army National Guard, Chicago; died May 18 in Landstuhl, Germany, from complications following surgery for a sudden medical condition that led to Chaney’s medical evacuation from Iraq.

  • Marine Chief Warrant Officer Robert William Channell Jr., 36, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in a non-hostile accident when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher being fired for familiarization malfunctioned near Kut, Iraq. The incident is under investigation.

  • Army Master Sgt. Chris S. Chapin, 39, of Proctor, Vt.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion (General Studies), 124th Regiment (Regional Training Institute), Army National Guard ,Colchester, Vt., killed Aug. 23 during combat operations when he was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq.

  • Air Force Tech. Sgt. John A. Chapman, 36, of Waco Texas; assigned to the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; killed during a rescue mission during Operation Anaconda on March 4, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Nathan R. Chapman, 31, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed in action while fighting against Taliban and al Qaida forces, on Jan. 4, 2002 in Khost, Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Jason K. Chappell, 22, of Hemet, Calif.; assigned to Company B, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry, Fort Hood Texas; attached to Task Force All American; killed Jan. 24 when a vehicle-based improvised explosive device detonated in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Holly A. Charette, 21, of Cranston, R.I.; assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed June 23 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel Chavez, 20, of Seattle; assigned to the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed June 9 in an explosion while conducting combat operations with 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), in Haqlaniyah, Iraq. Also killed were Lance Cpl. Dustin V. Birch, Lance Cpl. Thomas O. Keeling, Lance Cpl. Devon P. Seymour and Cpl. Brad D. Squires.

  • Army Pfc. Jonathan M. Cheatham, 19, of Camden, Ark.; assigned to the 489th Engineer Battalion, Army Reserve, North Little Rock, Ark.; killed while riding in a convoy that came under a rocket-propelled grenade attack, on July 26 in Baghdad.

  • Army Sgt. Steven Checo, 22, of New York, N.Y.; assigned to the 504th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Dec. 20, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Sgt. Yihjyh L. Chen, 31, of Saipan, Marianas Protectorate; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 4 when his unit was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad.

  • Marine Cpl. Nicholas O. Cherava, 21, of Ontonagon, Mich.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Oct. 6 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Karmah, Iraq. Also killed was Pfc. Jason L. Frye.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Craig W. Cherry, 39, of Winchester, Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light Infantry), Virginia Army National Guard, Winchester, Va.; killed Aug. 7 when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Ghazikel, Afghanistan.

  • Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Marcus M. Cherry, 18, of Imperial, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 6 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Chase J. Comley, 21, of Lexington, Ky.; assigned to the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed Aug. 6 by a suicidal car-bomber while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Amiriyah, Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. Brian R. Conner, 36, of Baltimore; assigned to the 243rd Engineer Company, Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore; killed Oct. 14 when he was conducting convoy operations and an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the rear of his Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate in Taji, Iraq. Also killed were Spc. Samuel M. Boswell and Spc. Bernard L. Ceo.

  • Army Sgt. Timothy M. Conneway, 22, of Enterprise, Ala.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died June 28 as a result of enemy fire in Baghdad. Conneway was traveling in a government vehicle in Baghdad June 26 when an explosive device detonated and struck the vehicle. He died two days later.

  • Army Capt. David S. Connolly, 37, of Boston; assigned to the 1173rd Transportation Terminal Battalion, Army Reserve, Brockton, Mass.; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which he was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.

  • Army Spc. Steven D. Conover, 21, of Wilmington, Ohio; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, based in Fort Sill, Okla.; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.

  • Marine Capt. Aaron J. Contreras, 31, of Sherwood, Ore.; assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA)-169, Marine Aircraft Group-39, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in a helicopter crash in southern Iraq.

  • Army Sgt. 1st Class Sean M. Cooley, 35, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; assigned to the 150th Engineer Battalion, 155th Armor Brigade, Mississippi Army National Guard, Lucedale, Miss.; killed Feb. 3 when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in northern Babil province, Iraq.

  • Army Pvt. Charles S. Cooper Jr., 19, of Jamestown, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed April 29 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Army Pfc. Darren A. Deblanc.

  • Army Sgt. Travis S. Cooper, 24, of Macon, Miss.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 114th Field Artillery Regiment, Mississippi Army National Guard, Starkville, Miss.; died on July 16, in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained the previous day when an improvised explosive device exploded near the vehicle he was searching in Baghdad.

  • Air Force Tech. Sgt. Sean M. Corlew, 37, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; assigned to the 16th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla.; killed in a MC-130H Combat Talon crash on June 12, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Todd R.   • Army Lt. Col. Terrence K. Crowe, 44, of New York, N.Y.; assigned to the 10th Battalion, 98th Regiment, 4th Brigade, 98th Division, Army Reserve, Lodi, N.J.; killed June 7 when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Tal Afar, Iraq.

  • Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kyle D. Crowley, 18, of San Ramon, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 6 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.

  • Marine Lance Cpl. Adam J. Crumpler, 19, of Charleston, W.Va.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed June 18 by small-arms fire while conducting combat operations against enemy forces during Operation Spear in Karabilah, Iraq.

  • Army Pvt. 2 Rey D. Cuervo, 24, of Laguna Vista, Texas; assigned to 1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Polk, La.; killed in action while on a mounted patrol when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle, on Dec. 28 in Baghdad.

  • Army Pfc. Kevin A. Cuming, 22, of North White Plains, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Aug. 21 when his patrol came under rocket-propelled grenade attack in Baghdad.

  • Army Spc. Daniel Francis J. Cunningham, 33, of Lewiston, Maine; assigned to 41st Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in a vehicle accident in Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Darren J. Cunningham, 40, of Groton, Mass.; assigned to the 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 30 when his unit came under mortar attack in Baghdad.

  • Air Force Senior Airman Jason D. Cunningham, 26, of Camarillo, Calif.; assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga; killed during a rescue mission during Operation Anaconda on March 4, 2002, in Afghanistan.

  • Army Spc. Carl F. Curran, 22, of Union City, Pa.; assigned to Battery C, 1st Battalion, 107th Field Artillery Regiment, Army National Guard, Oil City, Pa.; killed May 16 when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Karmah, Iraq.

  • Army Spc. Michael Edward Curtin, 23, of South Plains, N.J.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in a suicide car-bombing near Najaf, Iraq.

  • Army Staff Sgt. Christopher E. Cutchall, 30, of McConnellsburg, Pa.; assigned to Delta Troop, 4th Cavalry, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Sept. 29 when an improvised explosive device detonated next to his vehicle as he was traveling in a convoy west of Baghdad, Iraq.

  • Marine Corps Pfc. Brian K. Cutter, 19, of Riverside, Calif.; assigned to 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died May 13 after being found unconscious in Asad, Iraq.
