Army Sgt. Christopher J. Babin, 27, of Houma, La.; assigned to the 256th Infantry Brigade (Mechanized), Louisiana Army National Guard, Lafayette, La.; killed Jan. 6 with six of his fellow soldiers when an improvised explosive device struck their Bradley fighting vehicle in Baghdad. Army Sgt. 1st Class Henry A. Bacon, 45, of Wagram, N.C.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 10th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 4th Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Feb. 20 when he was struck by a recovery vehicle while he was assisting a disabled vehicle in Dujayl, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Andrew Joseph Baddick, 26, of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; drowned Sept. 29 as he tried to rescue another soldier whose vehicle had entered a canal near Abu Ghraib Prison, Iraq.
Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Bader, 28, of York, Neb.; assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tiger Squadron, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.
Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Cesar O. Baez, 37, of Pomona, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed June 15 by enemy small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Roberto C. Baez, 19, of Tampa, Fla.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Oct. 3 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Haqlaniyah, Iraq. Army Spc. Solomon C. Bangayan, 24, of Jay, Vt.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed in action when his convoy was ambushed by the enemy who used an improvised explosive device (IED), small arms fire, and a rocket-propelled grenade, on Jan. 2 in Baghdad.
Army Sgt. Maj. Barbaralien Banks, 41, of Harvey, La.; assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which she was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.

Army Sgt. Michael C. Barkey, 22, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; assigned to the 1484th Transportation Company, Ohio National Guard, Akron, Ohio; killed July 7 when a tire blew out on the military vehicle in which he was riding, the driver lost control and the vehicle turned over in Ramadi, Iraq.
Army Spc. Jonathan P. Barnes, 21, Anderson, Mo.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed July 26 as a result of a grenade being thrown from a window of an Iraqi civilian hospital he was helping guard in Baqubah, Iraq.
Army 1st Lt. Christopher W. Barnett, 32, of Baton Rouge, La.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 156th Armor Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, Louisiana Army National Guard, Shreveport, La.; killed Dec. 23 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Baghdad.

Marine Sgt. Douglas E. Bascom, 25, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Oct. 20 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq. Bascom was a mobilized member of the Individual Ready Reserves.
Army Spc. Todd M. Bates, 20, of Bellaire, Ohio; assigned to the 135th Military Police Company, Army National Guard based in Brookpark, Ohio; placed on duty status whereabouts unknown. Bates was on a river patrol on the Tigris River south of Baghdad Dec. 10 when his squad leader fell overboard. He dove into the water after his squad leader, Staff Sgt. Aaron T. Reese, but did not surface. Reese did not survive.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael Battles Sr., 38, of San Antonio; assigned to 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 28 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his checkpoint in Baghdad.
Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Ronald E. Baum, 38, of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; assigned to 2nd Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed May 3 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Tane T. Baum, 30, of Pendleton, Ore.; assigned to the 113th Aviation Regiment, Oregon National Guard, Pendleton, Ore., killed Sept. 25 when his CH-47Chinook helicopter crashed southwest of Deh Chopan, Afghanistan.
Army Staff Sgt. Steven G. Bayow, 42, of Colonia Yap, Federated States of Micronesia; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Feb. 4 when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle in Bayji, Iraq. Army Pfc. Wilfred D. Bellard, 20, of Lake Charles, La.; assigned to 41st Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in a vehicle accident in Iraq.
Army Staff Sgt. Joseph P. Bellavia, 28, of Wakefield, Mass.; assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed while attempting to negotiate with armed men who were congregating on a road near a mosque after curfew on Oct. 16 in Karbala, Iraq. Also killed in the attack were Lt. Col. Kim S. Orlando, the commanding officer of the 716th, and Cpl. Sean R. Grilley. Seven other U.S. soldiers were wounded.

Marine Corps Cpl. Andrew D. Brownfield, 24, of Summit, Ohio; assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374, Marine Wing Support Group 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died March 18 from wounds received during an enemy mortar attack at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq.
Spc. Travis R. Bruce, 22, of Byron, Minn.; assigned to the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed March 23 when an enemy mortar round detonated near his guard position in Baghdad.
Coast Guard Damage Controlman 3rd Class Nathan B. Bruckenthal, 24, of Smithtown, N.Y.; assigned to Tactical Law Enforcement Team South Detachment 403, aboard the patrol coastal Firebolt, forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; killed April 24 in a waterborne attack in the northern Persian Gulf.
Marine Lance Cpl. Cedric E. Bruns, 22, of Vancouver, Wash.; assigned to 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Eugene, Ore.; killed in a non-hostile vehicle accident in Kuwait.
Army Spc. Jacques E. Brunson, 30, of Americus, Ga.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Georgia Army National Guard, Albany, Ga.; killed July 24 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee while he was on patrol in Baghdad. Also killed were Army Staff Sgt. Carl R. Fuller, Army Sgt. James O. Kinlow and Army Sgt. John F. Thomas.

Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Stephen L. Bryson, 36, of Montgomery, Ala.; assigned to Marine Aerial Transport Refueler Squadron 352, based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Calif.; killed in a refueling tanker crash, on Jan. 9, 2002 in Pakistan.
Army Sgt. Ernest G. Bucklew, 33, of Enon Valley, Pa.; assigned to Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.
Army Spc. Roy Russell Buckley, 24, of Portage, Ind.; assigned to the 685th Transportation Company, based in Hobart, Ind.; killed when he fell from an M818 truck traveling in a convoy. The incident is under investigation.
Alabama Army National Guard Spc. Paul J. Bueche, 19, of Daphne, Ala.; assigned to the 131st Aviation Regiment, Army National Guard, Birmingham, Ala.; killed Oct. 21 when a tire he was changing on a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter exploded in Balad, Iraq.
Army Lt. Col. Charles H. Buehring, 40, of Fayetteville, N.C.; assigned to Army Central Command Headquarters (Forward), Fort McPherson, Ga.; killed Oct. 26 during a rocket-propelled grenade attack on the Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad.
Marine Lance Cpl. Brian Rory Buesing, 20, of Cedar Key, Fla.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq.
Army Sgt. George Edward Buggs, 31, of Barnwell, S.C.; assigned to 3rd Forward Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed after his convoy was ambushed in Iraq.
Army Spc. Jimmy D. Buie, 43, of Floral, Ark.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, Fordyce, Ark.; killed Jan. 4 when an improvised explosive devise detonated near his military vehicle in Taji, Iraq. Also killed were Spc. Jeremy W. McHalffey and Spc. Joshua S. Marcum.
Army Spc. Joshua I. Bunch, 23, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; assigned to the 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Aug. 6 when his vehicle was attacked by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Baghdad.
Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Bunda, 29, of Bremer, Wash; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry, based at Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Jan. 25 when his boat capsized during a patrol on the Tigris River. Bunda was originally listed as duty status whereabouts unknown. His remains were recovered Feb. 10.
Army Staff Sgt. Michael L. Burbank, 34, of Bremerton, Wash.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Oct. 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker military vehicle in Mosul, Iraq.
Army Staff Sgt. Richard A. Burdick, 24, of National City, Calif.; assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed while riding in a convoy Dec. 10 when his vehicle was hit by an improvise explosive device in Mosul, Iraq.

Army Spc. Taylor J. Burk, 21, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Jan. 26 when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle in Baghdad.
Marine Pfc. Tamario D. Burkett, 21, of Erie, N.Y.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in action near Nasiriyah March 23. He was listed as missing until April 13, when the Defense Department announced his remains had been identified.
Army Sgt. Travis L. Burkhardt, 26, of Edina, Mo.; assigned to 170th Military Police Company, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed on June 6 in Baghdad, Iraq. Burkhardt was part of an escort mission when the vehicle he was in hit a curb along the road and rolled over.
Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle W. Burns, 20, of Laramie, Wyo.; assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed Nov 11 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Spc. Eric T. Burri, 21, of Wyoming, Mich.; assigned to the 623rd Quartermaster Company, 1st Corps Support Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed June 7 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad.

Army Pfc. Charles E. Bush Jr., 43, of Buffalo, N.Y., assigned to 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion, 354th Civil Affairs Brigade, 352nd Civil Affairs Command, Army Reserve, based in Riverdale Park, Md.; killed while riding in a convoy Dec. 19 when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Balad, Iraq.
Army Pvt. 2 Matthew D. Bush, 20, of East Alton, Ill.; assigned to F Troop, 1st Squadron, 10th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 8 in Camp Caldwell, Iraq. A fellow soldier tried to wake Bush and noticed he was not breathing.
Army Pfc. Damian S. Bushart, 22, of Waterford, Mich.; assigned to A Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based in Armstrong Barracks, Germany; killed Nov. 22 when a tank collided with his vehicle in Baghdad.
Army Spc. Adrian J. Butler, 28, of East Lansing, Mich.; assigned to the 411th Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; killed July 27 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during a patrol in Ashraf, Iraq. Also killed was Army Spc. John O. Tollefson.
Army Sgt. Jacob L. Butler, 24, of Wellsville, Kan.; assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed in action by a rocket-propelled grenade in Assamawah, Iraq.
Army Spc. Casey Byers, 22, of Schleswig, Iowa; assigned to the 224th Engineer Battalion, Iowa Army National Guard, Ottumwa, Iowa; killed June 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Taqaddum, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. 1st Class Neil A. Prince.
