Army Pvt. 2 Algernon Adams, 36, of Aiken, S.C.; assigned to the 122nd Engineer Battalion, Army National Guard, Edgefield, S.C.; died Oct. 28 of non-combat-related injuries at Forward Operating Base St. Mere, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Brandon E. Adams, 22, of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died Sept. 19 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., of injuries sustained Feb. 16 in Fallujah, Iraq, when a grenade exploded as he was clearing a house.
Army Spc. Clarence Adams III, 28, of Richmond, Va.; assigned to the 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Sept. 7 of injuries sustained Sept. 6 when his Humvee hit an improvised explosive device in Baghdad.
Army Sgt. Leonard W. Adams, 42, of Mooresville, N.C.; assigned to the 105th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, North Carolina Army National Guard, Asheville, N.C.; died Jan. 24 of non-combat-related injuries at Camp Bucca, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Michael S. Adams, 20, of Spartanburg, S.C.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; died on Aug. 21 in Baghdad, Iraq. Adams was participating in a small-arms-fire exercise on the range when a bullet ricocheted and ignited a fire in the building. He died as a result of injuries sustained during the fire.
Marine Sgt. Mark P. Adams, 24, of Morrisville, N.C.; assigned to Marine Forces Reserve's II Marine Expeditionary Force Augmentation Command Element, Camp Lejeune, N.C., attached was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II MEF (Forward) during Operation Iraqi Freedom, killed Oct. 15 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Saqlawiyah, Iraq.
Army 1st Lt. Michael R. Adams, 24, of Seattle; assigned to 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed March 16 when he was struck by the barrel of a .50 caliber weapon mounted on his tank in Asad, Iraq.
Navy Lt. Thomas Mullen Adams, 27, of La Mesa, Calif.; assigned as an exchange officer with the British Royal Navy’s 849 Squadron; killed in a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter crash over the Persian Gulf.
Army Spc. Jamaal R. Addison, 22, of Roswell, Ga.; assigned to the 507th Maintenance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas; killed in an ambush near Nasiriyah, Iraq.
Marine Lance Cpl. Patrick R. Adle, 21, of Baltimore; assigned to the 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Reserve, Folsom, Pa.; killed June 29 when a roadside bomb exploded next to his Humvee as he and four other Marines were traveling southeast of Baghdad.

Army Spc. Segun Frederick Akintade, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, New York, N.Y.; killed Oct. 28 when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire in Abd Allah, Iraq.
Marine Capt. Paul C. Alaniz, 32, of Corpus Christi, Texas; assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.; killed Jan. 26 when the CH-53E helicopter in which he was riding crashed near Rutbah, Iraq. Twenty-nine Marines and one sailor also were killed.
Army Sgt. Maj. Phillip R. Albert, 41, of Terryville, Conn.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed in a MH-53M helicopter crash on Nov. 23, 2003, in Afghanistan.

Alexander, 27, of Dale City, Va.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed June 3 when his convoy vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device at Forward Operating Base Orgun-E, Afghanistan. Also killed was Capt. Charles D. Robinson.

Army Sgt. Howard Paul Allen, 31, of Mesa, Ariz.; assigned to the 860th Military Police Company, Arizona Army National Guard, Phoenix; killed Sept. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad.
Army 1st Lt. Louis E. Allen, 34, of Milford, Pa.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 42nd Infantry Division, New York Army National Guard, Troy, N.Y.; died on June 8 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained June 7 when an explosion of unknown origin occurred near his location in Tikrit. Also killed was Capt. Phillip T. Esposito.

Army Staff Sgt. William A. Allers III, 28, of Leitchfield, Ky.; assigned to the 198th Military Police Battalion, 75th Troop Command, Kentucky Army National Guard, Louisville, Ky.; killed Sept. 20 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle in the vicinity of Khalis, Iraq, north of Baghdad.
Army Sgt. Glenn R. Allison, 24, of Pittsfield, Mass.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, based in Fort Drum, N.Y.; died Dec. 18 during physical training in Baghdad.
Army Spc. Thomas F. Allison, 22, of Tacoma Wash.; assigned to E Co, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, based at Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed in an MH-47E crash during a training exercise, on Feb. 22, 2002 in the Philippines.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Victor A. Anderson, 39, of Ellaville, Ga.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Georgia Army National Guard, Albany, Ga.; killed July 30 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee while he was on patrol in Baghdad. Also killed were Staff Sgt. David R. Jones Sr., Sgt. Ronnie L. Shelley Sr. and Sgt. Jonathon C. Haggin.
Rhode Island Army National Guard Spc. Michael Andrade, 28, of Bristol, Rhode Island; attached to the 115th Military Police Company, U.S. Army National Guard; died Sept. 24 of injuries he sustained when a 5-ton truck struck his Humvee in Balad, Iraq.
Air Force Master Sgt. Evander E. Andrews, 36, of Solon, Maine; assigned to the 366th Civil Engineering Squad, Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; killed Oct. 10, 2001, in a heavy equipment accident in Qatar.
Army Spc. Yoe M. Aneiros, 20, of Newark, N.J.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Sept. 7 when his patrol vehicle came under attack by rocket-propelled grenades in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad.
Marine Lance Cpl. Levi T Angell, 20, of Saint Louis, Minn.; assigned to Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 8 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Edward J. Anguiano, 24, of Brownsville, Texas; assigned to 3rd Combat Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in a convoy ambush in Iraq. His remains were recovered April 24. His status was changed from missing on April 28.
Marine Cpl. Jesus Martin Antonio Medellin, 21, of Fort Worth, Texas; assigned to 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in action in central Iraq.
Army Sgt. Kurtis D. K. Arcala, 22, of Palmer, Alaska; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Sept. 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position during convoy escort operations in Tikrit, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Elden D. Arcand, 22, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group, Fort Carson, Colo., killed August 21 when his M915A1 tractor pulling a 7,500-gallon tanker accidentally rolled over in Mosul, Iraq.
Air Force 1st Lt. Tamara Archuleta, 23, of Los Lunas, N.M.; assigned to the 41st Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga.; killed in a HH-60G Pave Hawk crash on March 23, 2003, in Afghanistan.
Army Pfc. Michael A. Arciola, 20, of Elmsford, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; died Feb. 15 of injuries sustained from enemy small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq.
Air Force Capt. Derek Argel, 28, of Lompoc, Calif.; assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla.; killed May 30 in the crash of an Iraqi air force aircraft during a training mission in eastern Diyala province, Iraq. Also killed were Maj. William Downs, Capt. Jeremy Fresques and Staff Sgt. Casey Crate.
Army Sgt. Roberto Arizola Jr., 31, of Laredo, Texas; assigned to the 297th Military Intelligence Battalion, 513th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Gordon, Ga.; killed June 8 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad.
Marine Cpl. Bradley T. Arms, 20, of Charlottesville, Va.; assigned to the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve, Baltimore; killed Nov. 19 by enemy action in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Moses E. Armstead, 44, of Rochester, N.Y.; assigned to the 16th Ordnance Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; died Oct. 6 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of a non-combat-related illness identified Oct. 5 as he was returning from leave status and preparing to redeploy to Afghanistan.
Army Sgt. Travis M. Arndt, 23, of Bozeman, Mont.; assigned to the 163rd Cavalry Troop, 116th Brigade Combat Team, 42nd Infantry Division, Montana Army National Guard, Missoula, Mont.; killed Sept. 21 in a vehicle accident during convoy operations in Kirkuk, Iraq.
Marine Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Todd Arnold , 30, of Spring, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in a non-hostile accident when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher being fired for familiarization malfunctioned near Kut, Iraq. The incident is under investigation.
Army Staff Sgt. Daniel L. Arnold , 27, of Montrose, Pa.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, New Milford, Pa.; killed Sept. 28 when his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle was attacked by enemy forces using indirect fire in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed were: Staff Sgt. George A. Pugliese; Sgt. Eric W. Slebodnik; Spc. Lee A. Wiegand, and Pfc. Oliver J. Brown.
Army Sgt. Larry R. Arnold Sr., 46, of Carriere, Miss.; assigned to the 150th Combat Engineer Battalion, 155th Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi Army National Guard, Lucedale, Miss.; killed June 11 when his armored personnel carrier was hit by an improvised explosive device in Owesat Village, Iraq. Also killed was Spc. Terrance D. Lee Sr.

Army Spc. Richard Arriaga, 20, of Ganado, Texas; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 18 during an ambush by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Tikrit, Iraq. Two other soldiers from his unit also were killed.

Arroyave, 30, of Woodland, Calif.; assigned to Combat Service Support Battalion 1, Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died April 15 in a non-combat-related vehicle accident northeast of Ramadi, Iraq.

Army Cpl. Evan Asa Ashcraft, 24, West Hills, Calif.; assigned to the Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed when his convoy came under enemy fire north of Hawd, Iraq, on July 24.
Marine Lance Cpl. Trevor D. Aston, 32, of Austin, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Austin, Texas; killed Feb. 22 in a non-hostile vehicle incident in Anbar province, Iraq.

Marine Maj. Jay Thomas Aubin, 36, of Waterville, Maine; assigned to the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz.; killed in a CH-46E helicopter crash in Kuwait.

Axelson, 29, of Cupertino, Calif.; assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; killed while conducting counter-terrorism operations in Kunar province, Afghanistan. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 David Ayala, 24, of New York City; assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade, Giebelstadt, Germany; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which he was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.
Marine Corps Pfc. Eric A. Ayon, 26, of Arleta, Calif.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed April 9 by hostile fire in Anbar province, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Lionel Ayro, 22, of Jeanerette, La.; assigned to 73rd Engineer Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Dec. 21 when his base dining facility was attacked in Mosul, Iraq.
