28, of Chicago; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died July 6 in Rustamiyah, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad.
