Army Spc. Justin B. Schmidt
23, of Bradenton, Fla.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; one of eight soldiers killed April 29 by a car bomb as his unit was doing a dismounted improvised-explosive device-sweep in Baghdad.
Justin Schmidt was born in 1980 at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., and grew up in Bradenton, Fla. He joined the Army in February 2002. He is survived by his parents, Victor Schmidt and Lenore Roberts.
