OIL CITY, Pa. — The first Venango County soldier killed in action in more than 30 years was laid to rest Friday.

Kephart’s funeral at Faith Baptist Church in Seneca was followed by burial in Brandon Cemetery with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute.
The last time a county soldier died in action was in Vietnam, where 23 soldiers died from 1965-1971. Their names are listed on a memorial dedicated in September 2001.
