Dear Ed,
I know you dont need to be told, but it bears repeating that you are in my thoughts and prayers daily. I think about your phone call to me on 9/11 and how proud I am of you and the man youve become since joining the Navy. Having you gone for your birthday was a little hard, but it was celebrated where I work.
I spend hours searching the computer for information on your ship. Sometimes I find information and Im at ease for a few days. I sit and long to hear your voice again, to hear you say, Im OK, Mom. I keep your grandparents informed and print them out articles and pictures of your ship. Grandma has started a little scrapbook. I wish you could see the support and encouragement that this city, state and country have for all of you in the military.
You have been gone a short time, yet it seems like eternity. I was not there in Norfolk to see you off, but I will be there when you come home.
I Love You,
Mom
