Belinda Bukovitz has been married for more than a decade to Army Capt. Michael Bukovitz, who has deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom as blood platoon officer-in-charge with the 32nd Medical Logistics Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C. Belinda, a former teacher, now stays home with the couple’s children, 7-year-old Nathan and 3-year-old Kenadee.
Michael is a former Air Force enlistee who left service, went to college and re-entered the military as an Army officer.

Michael,

I just wanted to write you a letter to let you know that we love you and miss you. I remember saying to you just before you left, “I don’t think I can do this again.” I know you could be gone for a year, which I can’t even comprehend. I take it one day at a time. After a couple of days, I realized that I could do this again. Nathan, Kenadee and I stand behind you completely.

When you are home, I live for you to walk through that door and give us those big hugs and kisses we love. The thing I miss most is your laughter and your smile. I look forward to when you return and I have that back.

We are so proud of what you are doing for our country. I realize that even though I am left behind with family responsibilities, I am not the one who sacrifices the most. I have my family, friends and children to sustain me, give me hugs and encourage me to keep going. You don’t have that. I would walk a thousand miles to be there for you when you needed it. I love and admire you for the sacrifices you make. You are the love of my life and a true hero, and I look forward to you coming home. Know that we keep you close in our thoughts and prayers. Stay safe and God bless you.

I love you,
Belinda
