Staff Sgt. David Ash, a 14-year Air Force veteran, is deployed at a classified location in the Middle East with the 366th Civil Engineering Squadron out of Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. He and his girlfriend, Sharon Grinde, have been together for five years. He has one child from a previous marriage, 12-year-old Jacob.

Dear Sharon,

Hello, honey. Things here are going good. I can’t believe we have been apart for over four months. It seems like much longer. I am looking forward to my return and from what I hear, it may be coming upon us in the next two months. I am excited to come home again and make up for the time we have missed since I have been deployed. Your support while I have been here has been amazing, and because of you I have been able to get through this tough time for us. The phone calls we share and the e-mail we have sent each other made this deployment a little easier. I love and miss you very much. I am so excited for the day I get to see you again, it will be such a joyous day and a memory I will never forget.

I love you infinity plus infinity times two.

I love you, sweetie.

Love,
David
